You are cordially invited to the special ball in the castle where Cornelis Jan van der Oudemeulen and his wife Julia Ewouda Countess of Randwijck lived between 1876 and 1904.
Van der Oudemeulen was Equerry for H.R.H. King Willem III and active in court life. He worked on the World exhibition of 1876 in Philadelphia, designing and providing the Dutch pavillion. Together with his architect C. Muysken, he created a complete new castle as his house, and that is the one you see today.
A beautiful castle in neo-renaissance style with lots of marble, Toscany pillars, expensive wood and very modern for its time with central heating, warm water installations and electricity!
Our program starts with a dance practice for those of you who would like to freshen up their dance skills between 13.00-15.00.
You are welcome at the castle from 15.00 on when you come to both the dinner and the ball.
Ball guests only are welcome at 19.30.
We will dance till midnight.
With enough interest we will be able to arrange a (paid) ride in a horse carriage on the premises of the castle.

This year society ‘Tour de Mains’ celebrates its 5 year jubilee. A good reason to change the normal location in The Hague to a magnificent castle. And together with Beleef Het Verleden we hope to see the room full of delegations of different countries as well, visiting the court life of Willem III.

U bent van harte uitgenodigd op het bijzondere bal in het kasteel waar Cornelis Jan van der Oudemeulen en zijn vrouw Julia Ewouda Gravin van Randwijck tussen 1876 en 1904 woonden. Van der Oudemeulen was stalknecht voor koning Willem III en actief in het hofleven. Hij werkte ook aan de wereldtentoonstelling van 1876 in Philadelphia, waar hij het Nederlandse paviljoen ontwierp en verzorgde. Samen met zijn architect C. Muysken creëerde hij een compleet nieuw kasteel als zijn huis, en dat is het kasteel wat vandaag nog te zien is.
Een prachtig kasteel in neorenaissance stijl met veel marmer, Toscaanse zuilen, kostbare houtsoorten en zeer modern voor zijn tijd met centrale verwarming, warm waterinstallaties en elektriciteit!
Ons programma begint met een oefenmiddag voor degenen die hun dansvaardigheden willen opfrissen tussen 13.00-15.00 uur. U bent van harte welkom in het kasteel vanaf 15.00 uur wanneer u zowel bij diner als bal aanwezig bent. Balgasten zijn welkom vanaf 19.30 uur. We openen het bal tussen 20.00 en 20.30 uur. We dansen tot middernacht.
Bij voldoende belangstelling kunnen we tegen vergoeding ritjes in een paardenkoets aanbieden op het terrein van het kasteel.

Vous êtes invité(e) samedi 30 novembre au Bal d’Automne 1876 – 1904 au Kasteel Oud Wassenaar (proche La Haye, Pays-Bas).
Ce bal est organisé par la société Beleef Het Verleden (Martine Teunissen) et l’association Tour de Mains (Mieke Staaks).
A l’occasion de son cinquième anniversaire, Tour de Mains se joint à Beleef Het Verleden pour l’organisation de son bal annuel.
Le Baron Cornelis Jan van Der Oudermeulen, Ecuyer de S.A.R. le Roi Willem III, et son épouse Julia Ewouda, née Comtesse de Randwijck ont vécu à Oud Wassenaar de 1876 à 1904. C’est lui qui, avec l’architecte C. Muysken, a créé cette magnifique demeure de style néo-renaissance avec ses colonnes de marbres toscans, ses bois précieux… et qui présentait en même temps le confort le plus moderne pour l’époque avec son chauffage central, son système d’eau chaude et son installation électrique.
Ce personnage influent de la Cour a notamment conçu le Pavillon Néerlandais de l’Exposition Universelle de 1876 à Philadelphie.
Nous espérons vous accueillir nombreux pour participer à cette journée ‘hors normes’ afin de découvrir la vie de la haute société sous le règne de Willem III.
Deux formules vous sont proposées :
• Diner et bal à partir de 15h00
• Bal uniquement à partir de 20h00
Le bal se terminera à minuit.
Vous pourrez participer en début d’après midi (de 13h00 à 15h00) à une répétition des danses de la soirée.
En fonction du nombre de personnes intéressées, nous organiserions aussi une promenade en calèche dans le parc du château.
